Final Trailer - Monsters University!

It's not breaking news that the world will be reacquainted to Mike and Sulley in this summers Monsters University, the upcoming prequel to 2001's Pixar hit, Monsters Inc.

See the final trailer below:

The feature sees the pleasant return of Billy Crystal and John Goodman in the starring roles, it also introduces a huge mix of characters including voices by Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Charlie Day (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia), a rumoured cameo from Kelsey Grammar (Frasier) and surprisingly, Dame Helen Mirren as the hard up university Dean, Dean Hardscrabble.

Monsters University graces UK screens July 12th and hopefully it will follow in the footsteps of the Toy Story sequels and blow audiences out of the water.

Glenn Close is the Guardian of the Galaxy!

A dalmatian snatcher, a psychopathic ex-partner, a lawyer, a man, the first lady, Glenn Close hasn't exactly been typecast during her lengthy career which next year will have lasted 40 years. This momentous achievement will not be the only thing that the 66 year old actress will be celebrating in 2014, she has recently been announced as starring in the next big Marvel feature, Guardians of the Galaxy.

In a role similar to Samuel L. Jacksons Nick Fury, Close will be playing the leader of the intergalactic military force "Nova Corp" in other words, she is the boss. Her casting has come a quite a surprise to us here at Storm Coming, as previously mentioned, Close is not one to be typecast however this film seems completely different to anything that she has ever done, this role seems to scream Sigourney Weaver, however the surprise was definitely a pleasant one, thinking more of the role than the genre of the film, we understand that the casting of Close is an extremely wise one as the one thing that remains a constant in her career, is her choice of playing strong women. We think that she will take this role and make it sensational.

Reports have suggested that Step Brothers and Wreck-It Ralph actor John C. Reilly has recently been offered a human role as a middle man, who passes information and intelligence between the space bound Nova Corps (Lead by Glenn Close) and the Earth based S.H.I.E.L.D (Helmed by Samuel L. Jackson). This lends to a typical Marvel theme of cameos and crossovers of all of their properties.

Other confirmed cast members are Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana (Avatar) , Michael Rooker and Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies). Not much is known on the plot, but as the title suggests the film will revolve around an Avengers style group of superheroes tasked at protecting not only earth but the rest of the galaxy.

Avengers director Joss Whedon is consulting over the project as he is with the rest of Disney's Marvel properties. On the film, Whedon says "James Gunn [Director] is what makes me think it will work... He is so off the wall, and so crazy, but so smart, such a craftsman and he builds from his heart. He loves the raccoon. Needs the raccoon... He has a very twisted take on it, but it all comes from a real love for the material. It's going to be hard for [the human characters] to keep up."

When the film was first announced, we were a little skeptical as to whether it would translate to the feature film format, we felt that the characters where not particularly memorable or appealing, especially the raccoon of which we could not shift the mental image of Cartman from South Park. However, now that the film is taking shape and more details are being let slip, we have a feeling that Guardians of the Galaxy will shape up to be a great movie.

Die Hardest Announced!

It's safe to say that "A Good Day To Die Hard" has been one of the biggest disappointments of the year, not to say that we were anticipating it to be incredible but no one expected it to fall so short of the mark set by it's predecessors, even Die Hard 4.0 (Live Free Or Die Hard in North America).

It seems that the fifth installment of the Die Hard franchise may have made just enough of a profit for 20th Century Fox to give the green light on Bruce Willis' sixth outing as John McClane, tentatively titled "Die Hardest" and continuing the tradition of it's titles being a clever pun rather than a number. Personally, we prefer "Old Habits Die Hard" and our personal favourite "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we Die Hard" but I guess we're not the writers here, that mantle has been passed onto British scribe "Ben Trebilcook".

Trebilcook who been within the shadows of the screenwriting industry for the past 20 years, which gives us hope that he will be bringing originality to the franchise without straying from its own values, i.e 4.0's Cyber Terrorists.

Not much is known about the film except that John McClane will be returning, his son? as of yet, unconfirmed. It has been reported that the film will take place in both New York and Tokyo and will be reintroducing the company of which the first film was featured around "Nakatomi". Although 20th Century Fox recently denied the Tokyo rumours, a glimpse at Trebilcook's Twitter feed strongly suggest it, Trebilcook admits that he is merely in the process of writing a treatment. He says that Fox may decided to go in a different direction, however, looking at his ideas and his passion when talking about the film, we hope he will get his chance.

If we break down the series into two trilogies, the original 1-3 and the recent 4-6, both seem to follow the same pattern, a really strong film followed by a not so great film followed by another good film. If Die Hardest continues this trend, we may be looking at quite a decent film.

How do we think it should be made? Looking at the evidence, the two most highly acclaimed of the series are the original "Die Hard" and its second sequel "Die Hard with a Vengeance", what links those films? Germans, namely [SPOILER] the Gruber brothers, the first film about a german (Alan Rickman) attempting to rob the Nakatomi company and the third film about his brother (Jeremy Irons), seeking revenge for his death. Could there be an unnamed and unknown child, the best way to continue the series could be by reintroducing the Gruber clan, might we suggest "Benedict Cumberbatch" or "Michael Fassbender"?
Another important aspect of the success of the new film, is to stop diluting it! Die Hard is an 18 (R rated) yet in the UK the fifth instalment was a 12a (Pg-13), meaning that the language is cut down, the blood is cut down and the violence is cut down, these are thing you don't want to cut down on in a Die Hard movie.

Cutting the films rating means that McClane goes from looking like this at the end of Die Hard, to this at the end of A Good Day To Die Hard.

All in all, we here at Storm Coming, feel that the next chapter in the Die Hard saga is in some pretty safe hands, Bruce Willis always has the character nailed, the writer seems very promising and it seems that a couple of producers and other crew members may be returning after being absent in the fifth outing.

I end this article be quoting the title of the worst of the sequels, because Die Hardest may just be, A Good Day To Die Hard.

Quicksilver confirmed for both X-men AND Avengers 2?

Since the release of Marvels Avengers last year, movie-goers have wondered as to why a certain number of heroes didn't join Iron Man and co in the fight against Loki. For people who are not already aware, a lot of different studios own a lot of different Marvel characters. Disney own the current Avengers and Sony own Spiderman, there for the web slinger will probably never appear in an Avengers movie. The same goes for X-men, which is owned by 20th Century Fox, however, there is a loophole which allows certain X-Men characters to appear in Disney and Marvels Avengers. The reason? because some X-Men characters have at some point had main roles in The Avengers source material (The Comic Books).

Recently, Joss Whedon announced that the X-men fast as lightning character 'Quicksilver' will be appearing in the upcoming 'Avengers 2'. Now it seems, Bryan Singer (Director of X-men Days of Future Past) has revealed that the character will also be appearing in his own movie and has already been cast (American Horror Story's Evan Peters).

This was quite a surprise to Marvel fans and begs the question: Is this the start of a small scale partnership? or is Fox playing dirty with their assets? After all, X-Men is scheduled to be release a years before Avenger 2. Wouldn't it be confusing to see the same character, played by two different actors and sporting two completely different costumes?

If this is a case of two studios taking petty shots at one another, only time will show which one pulls it off better and hopefully, the winner won't damage any elements of the opponents efforts. After all, here at Storm Coming and indeed most Marvel fans, we are massively excited for both.
